Classic Feadship Motor Yacht Avante V Sold

5 June 2020 • Written by Malcolm MacLean

The venerable 36.6 canoe-stern metre motor yacht Avante V, listed for sale by Bob O’Brien at IYC, has been sold in an in-house deal with the buyer introduced by Michael Rafferty.

Built in steel and aluminium by Dutch yard Feadship to a design by H.W. De Voogt, she was delivered in 1974 and most recently refitted in 2017. Accommodation is for 10 guests in five cabins comprising two master suites (one on the main deck), two doubles and a twin, all with entertainment centres and en suite bathroom facilities.

Avante V was asking $4,950,000

The aft deck is open but can be enclosed with teak and glass wing doors and clear Eisenglass windows. A large built-in settee which seats ten makes this area ideal for dining al fresco in any climate. The main saloon is richly decorated in oak wood, stained to a rich walnut colour, with a particularly light, bright and airy feeling, due to the size of the large picture windows. Here is a lounge area with two built-in sofas, a cocktail table and a full entertainment system including a built-in colour television screen.

Moving up a level, the bridge deck is home to the captain’s cabin and wheelhouse, with a Portuguese bridge forward. Outside is the spacious sundeck, perfect for sunbathing, relaxing and taking in the views, with an optional awning for shade. Her top speed is 14 knots and she boasts a maximum cruising range of 2,450 nautical miles at 10 knots with power coming from two 610hp Caterpillar D346-TA diesel engines.

Avante V was asking $4,950,000.
