The 64.5-metre converted expedition yacht Global has been listed for sale with Carmen Lau of Camper & Nicholsons.
Global was originally delivered in 1982 by American shipyard Bender as a commercial workboat. 25 years later, a major transformation by US-based shipyard Shadow Marine in 2007 converted the 64.5-metre into "one of the world’s first true support vessels", conceived to "carry more, travel further and unlock experiences no conventional yacht can match", according to her broker.
She was constructed with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure to a design by Pittman & Associates and has recently received paint and engine room updates.
Inside, Global's Kimberly Gonzales interiors showcase Obeche veneer in a rich “Koffee Fineline” finish, accented with solid mahogany trim. Elongated oval windows across her profile allow for both endless views out and an abundance of natural light in, making the yacht notably bright and airy.
Accommodation on board is for 12 guests in six cabins, all located on the upper deck and completely separate from the yacht’s social areas for utmost privacy. Five queen-sized cabins and one twin/bunk cabin each feature en suite bathrooms, private balconies and a study desk, all in addition to ample storage space. Further quarters accommodate a crew of 13.
Her large open-plan main saloon is located on the sky deck, with sofa seating, a formal dining table seating 12 and a bar.
When it comes to amenities, guests can enjoy a dedicated cinema and meeting room with a 65-inch screen, a gym and a separate games room on the lower deck. A commercial galley and extensive storage ensure support and comfort for both long voyages and large-scale entertaining. There is also a wheelchair-accessible lift which connects the main deck and helideck.
On board, she features a fully certified 15-by-10-metre touch-and-go helipad on the sky deck, as well as a 14.6-metre-by-10.7-metre climate-controlled hangar - unique among yachts in her class – both of which can transform from their helicopter capabilities to host large events. Heavy-duty deck equipment, including a 35-tonne telescopic crane and hydraulic davits, allows for easy deployment of tenders, submarines and heavy exploration gear.
The 1,303GT yacht for sale is also equipped with two U-Boat Worx submersibles: a 2016 Super Yacht Sub 3 and a brand-new Cruise Sub 7.
Powered by twin 1,300hp Caterpillar engines, Global is capable of long-distance journeys with a range of 10,000 nautical miles, topping out at 14-knot maximum speeds and cruising comfortably at 10 knots.
Onboard stabilisers ensure additional comfort during passages, while three new Caterpillar Tier 3 generators provide efficient power. Key specs include a 12.2-metre beam and a 3.2-metre draught.
Global is asking $12,500,000. She is currently cruising near Hong Kong, China.
