Luna: Everything to know about Oceanco's 90m rule-breaker following her €10M price drop

20 August 2026 • Written by Lucy Pughe-Morgan

Nearly a decade in development and duly crowned Motor Yacht of the Year at the World Superyacht Awards the year after her launch, the 90-metre Oceanco superyacht Luna represents a masterclass in rule-breaking design. With Luiz De Basto's visionary exterior, Azure Yacht Design's innovative naval architecture and Nuvolari Lenard's intricate nature-inspired interiors, this Dutch-built superyacht combines technical excellence with artistic ambition, establishing herself as one of the most compelling vessels on the market today.

Following her recent €10,000,000 price reduction – listed for sale with Large Yacht Co and now asking €208,000,000 – BOAT takes a closer look at the custom build, from her interesting design details to her position in the current superyacht fleet...

1. Her design is inspired by Hammerhead sharks

A major eight years were spent drawing, developing and reconfiguring Luna’s intricate design before her completion in 2018. When designing Luna, Luiz de Basto was keen to incorporate the natural world into her profile. This led to a streamlined yet aggressive aesthetic being directly inspired by one of the water's most fascinating predators: the Hammerhead shark.

Curved lines, sloped contours and protruding balconies replicate the shape of the fish, with the hammer mimicked by her extended forward bridge overhang. Another standout is her mast, which has been shaped "like a dorsal fin", though her dark gloss hull and stark white accents make her even more recognisable as a hunter on the water.

2. She is fitted with more than 22 tonnes of exterior glass

De Basto’s vision was to “let the outside world in” on board Luna and create a vessel that "concealed its volume and decks within a shapely glass envelope" to provide owners with ultimate privacy. As a result, Luna sports a 360-square-metre glass-sided superstructure made from approximately 22 tonnes of exterior glass and 186 panels, 28 of which are double-curved architectural glass. The effect creates an almost invisible barrier between interior and exterior spaces, which taps into de Basto’s concept of allowing the natural world to blend on board.

The glass was no easy feat, however, and forced the designers and builders to address technical and functional challenges that follow from using such a fragile material.

3. Her interiors feature more than 120 different types of fabric

A school of three-dimensional fish appear to swim upward around the lift on board

Italian design studio Nuvolari Lenard described Luna's interiors as "very complex to execute". This was likely due to the incorporation of fish, olive leaves, waves and blossom motifs throughout, alongside a depiction of butterflies so vividly painted on the bathroom wall that they seem to be taking flight.

Various materials such as carved leather, engraved glass and embroidered fabrics are amongst just some of the 120 different fabrics used on board, with more than 20 types of saddle leather crafted and sprinkled throughout. From linens used as joinery on doors to embroidered fabrics and woods like sycamore, maple, and ash, a complex web of various materials adds an extra layer of decadence to the 90-metre. Despite this, her overall look remains effortlessly elegant and cohesive.

4. Wellness is central to her onboard experience

Within the glass walls of Luna is a wellness area with a Hammam, sauna and massage room to tend to guests' relaxation needs. Down at sea level, an impressive beach club allows for easy access to the surrounding water, or guests can enjoy a six-metre freshwater pool on the upper deck that boasts a countercurrent and cascades down to the beach club.

With wellness in mind, the motor yacht also holds a 70-square-metre studio with a gymnasium on board. Surrounded by panoramic windows, the area benefits from sea views accompanying the Technogym equipment.

5. She was crowned Motor Yacht of the Year in 2019

The yacht has been highly recognised over the years, earning a Judge's Commendation for Best Technical Achievement at the BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards upon her launch, in recognition of the extraordinary engineering required to realise her mind-bending concept.

It was unsurprising that the following year, Luna was also crowned Motor Yacht of the Year at the 2019 World Superyacht Awards, singled out for her "attractive profile, excellent deck spaces, good crew areas, technical features and efficient build time".

6. She is one of the longest superyachts currently for sale

Her 90-metre shark-like exterior holds a host of features within, including an owner's deck that spans 135 square metres and is dedicated entirely to the owner's private experience. The layout includes an en suite, a private office, a dressing room and exclusive access to a teak-covered helideck with a forward-facing spa pool and multiple sunpads for lounging and sunbathing.

Six remaining guest cabins are situated on the lower deck, tended to by a crew of 30.
