Italian shipyard AB Yachts, a brand of Next Yacht Group, has announced the launch of the first unit in its 28.5-metre AB 95S series - the sport version of the AB 95 - at its facilities in Viareggio. The new build has already begun her first sea trials, after which she will undergo final outfitting before delivery to her experienced American owner in April.
Design for the model comes from Archea Associati and is qualified by a "more aggressive" silhouette with sporty, flowing lines and a wraparound windshield to emphasise the vessel's racing character.
According to the shipyard, the AB 95S confirms its vocation for speed and technological innovation, and was created to "further enhance the brand's high-performance DNA", resulting in a vessel that pushes the limits of speed to exceed a blistering 53 knots. The yard noted that the model is designed for owners "seeking pure adrenaline and the unforgettable thrill of speed on the water."
The yacht is characterised by an aerodynamic profile which visibly lowers her lines and enhances a "performance-focused" silhouette. Complete with an opening roof integrated into the superstructure, the AB 95S features a bright and open main deck and is fully equipped for entertainment.
On deck, social areas include an open cockpit and aft beach club, the latter of which accommodates a four-metre tender, jet skis and multiple inflatables with direct access to the sea. Accommodation on board is for eight guests with a full-beam owner's suite decorated in an array of refined materials for a contemporary atmosphere.
According to the shipyard, the use of insulated panels, leather and suede has helped to create a quieter environment below deck alongside reduced noise levels.
Both the hull and deck are built in composite materials with an extensive use of carbon fibre to reduce weight. Hull one from the line is among the first to be equipped with three 2,200hp MAN V12X-2200 engines, propelling her to her high top speeds with "excellent" manoeuvrability. Key specs include a 6.8-metre beam and a shallow draught of 1.4 metres.
Simon Graham of FGI Yacht Group, who handled the sale of this first unit, said: "The launch marks an exciting milestone for the owner and for the entire team that worked on the project, and we are proud to have represented the buyer in bringing such an exceptional yacht to life."
BOATPro amounts AB Yachts to have four other superyachts currently in build, including two AB 130 units, the first of which was delivered last year.
