First look: 74m Amels superyacht New Dream undergoes major refit at Palumbo

Refit and maintenance shipyard Palumbo Superyachts Refit has announced the completion of a major refit on the 74-metre Amels superyacht New Dream (ex New Secret) at its facilities in Malta.

The yard noted the scale and complexity of the refit programme, which was carried out entirely in-house within the yard's dedicated workshops. The most significant change to the 74-metre (and the yard's biggest challenge) was the stern extension, which saw the swimming platform extended and completely integrated into the yacht's structure.

Beyond the extension, the yacht underwent a full technical and structural refit, in addition to a comprehensive interior refit coordinated by F/YACHTING and British design studio Bannenberg & Rowell.

The platform was pre-assembled at the yard, before being connected to the hull shell and internal framework

Among the interior upgrades was the "complete reconstruction" of the owner’s bathrooms, which were entirely stripped back and reconfigured to create highly personalised spaces with distinct design identities. In addition, the owner’s deck was fully reconfigured to include new architectural elements, cabinetry and bespoke furniture solutions integrated within the structure.

Further interior enhancements were completed on the lower deck spa, where the shower was converted into an ice bath and the previous whirlpool was upgraded with hand-laid mosaic tiling. On the main deck, the floors, wall paneling, ceilings and furnishings were renewed, in addition to a redesigned stairwell and new lighting with backlit stone elements.

The shipyard noted the project's "structured workflow", where work progressed simultaneously across the vessel

The structural and technical works completed by Palumbo included the replacement of corroded pipelines, the installation of a new davit on the top deck, the sandblasting and repainting of tanks, alongside the reinforcement of the main engines’ exhaust system. The handrails on the owner's decks were also partially removed to improve visibility from the corridor windows.

A dry dock phase covered essential underwater maintenance, including a full antifouling cycle and propulsion servicing, alongside the repainting of the yacht's superstructure and exterior finishing. The shipyard's specialised teams also refreshed the main deck pool and owner's areas.

“The New Dream refit is a testament to precision, collaboration and technical expertise, delivering a refined, highly individual environment that elevates both the owner’s private spaces and the overall guest experience," said a representative from F/YACHTING.

New Dream was delivered by Dutch shipyard Amels in 2017 as one of one of eight Limited Editions 242 yachts. Tim Heywood was responsible for the yacht's exterior design, while the interiors were penned by British studio Winch Design.

The refit follows the yacht's off-market sale in March last year.
