Benetti launches full-custom 62m FB283

30 January 2023 • Written by Katia Damborsky

Benetti has announced the launch of its latest full-custom superyacht known as FB283. The 62-metre project hit the water at the shipyard in Livorno on January 26 and marks the 33rd partnership between Benetti and designer Giorgio Cassetta, whose work is seen on the interior and exterior of the custom build.

Hull lines are courtesy of Van Oossanen Naval Architects and the project is the first Benetti project to feature Van Oossanen's pioneering fast-displacement hull form (FDHF) for optimal efficiency at high speeds.

Speed, silence, long-range and a family-orientated design were key components of the owner's brief. The owner was represented by Nicola Nicolai from Nicolai Yacht Consulting & Project Management, who also acted as an advisor prior to the commission.

The exterior is characterised by six-by-two-metre windows running along both the main and upper decks, with deck fittings including oval capping rails and natural teak panels. A mix of solid wood and stone elements are integrated across her exterior decks.

Meanwhile, the interior focuses on convivial areas and a variety of storage options for toys and accessories. As well as space for dive gear, the yacht is also home to a cavernous upper deck garage with space for a ten-metre tender, two Jet Skis and a secondary tender. The bow acts as a touch-and-go helipad.

The construction of FB283 began in 2020 during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. The yard made use of "innovative and functional solutions" including 3D technology to ensure the build progressed on schedule.

Powered by twin Caterpillar engines, the yacht is expected to reach a top speed of 21 knots. Other key numbers include a beam of 10.5 metres range of 4,500 nautical miles at 12 knots.
