Felix Chapman-Sheath of CS Yacht Design has revealed a new superyacht concept known as Haven. Standing at 85 metres in length with an estimated volume of 2500GT, the new design – which marks the first concept from the young designer – is described as a "state-of-the-art sustainable superyacht, designed for 2035".
Taking inspiration from Feadship's 83-metre concept Dunes, Haven showcases a tiered, contoured profile, characterised by extensive floor-to-ceiling, panoramic glazing across her superstructure and a clean, effortless hull. She is poised to reach net-zero carbon emissions and will be powered by green methanol.
A double-height main saloon with a glass ceiling centrepiece lies at the heart of Haven, decorated in a neutral colour scheme with light, natural woods and hints of blue.
This open-plan living area is outfitted with loose, comfortable furniture, a circular dining table and a wood bar, while a statement light fixture catches the eye. The expansive windows on either side of the saloon fill the room with natural light and create the feeling of a penthouse apartment.
"For the interior, I was inspired by a futuristic and alternative approach, challenging the norms of yacht design, similar to that of Tecomar's This Is It catamaran", explained Chapman-Sheath.
A highlight on board is the main deck Zen garden – a feature seldom found on superyachts – which overlooks the foredeck and is complete with a central skylight and transformable bulwarks offering maximum, undisturbed views out. The calming space is situated directly in front of the master suite, separated only by a large sheet of glass.
A total of six guest cabins provide accommodation for up to 12 guests, while 25 crew are accommodated across 13 cabins. The master is complete with an off-centred bed, sofa area, desk and a large walk-in wardrobe and dressing area.
The emphasis on an indoor-outdoor connection is evident throughout Haven, especially within the open-plan beach club. Sheltered by the main deck overhang, the large, multi-level area is home to sun loungers, sofas, a bar and contemporary toybox storage, offering a relaxed lounge and entertainment area close to the water. There are no harsh structures, only curved forms and clever panelling to offer guests privacy.
Haven will conceivably be powered by green methanol stored in fuel cells, driving an azipod dual propulsion system. In terms of speed, she will reach a maximum of 18 knots and will cruise comfortably at 12 knots.
The yacht will also feature dynamic anchoring to allow easy access to anchor-free zones when required.
