Damen Yachting's first Xplorer 60 and Yacht Support 53 depart sheds following refit

Damen Yachting's 60.1-metre Xplorer 60 superyacht, After You, and her 53-metre support vessel, Emotional, have departed the shipyard's sheds in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, following a refit period.

Details on the works remain private, though the builders revealed that both yachts underwent works tailored to the desires and operational requirements of their owner. The works included refit, service and optimisation, alongside supporting preparations for the fleet's "ambitious global cruising and exploration plans in remote locations", the yard noted. According to BOATPro's global AIS tracker, the programme is already underway, with the yachts en route to Iceland.

Both yachts were delivered in August last year to the same owner - the announcement made in tandem with the news that the pair had been sold by TWW Yachts.

After You is the first from Damen Yachting's Xplorer 60 series, designed with a steel hull for extreme adventure exploits as well as luxury superyacht comforts. The Xplorer 60, formerly known as the SeaXplorer 60, was first unveiled in September 2021, with construction on After You beginning in February 2022, on speculation.

Azure Yacht Design and Naval Architecture penned the model's rugged exterior design, while British studio H2 Yacht Design was responsible for her interiors. On board highlights include accommodation for 12 across six suites, an observation lounge with 270-degree views, and a versatile certified helideck.

Emotional marks the third unit from the yard's Yacht Support (YS) 53 series, and was designed and engineered in-house to provide support to the mothership with additional crew, toys, extra helicopter facilities and logistical capacity. Accommodation is for up to eight guests and 11 crew members, with key equipment including a 15-tonne crane for submersibles and large tenders.

“It is always rewarding to welcome our yachts back to Vlissingen," said head of refit & services at Damen Yachting, Michel Coens. "Their return reflects the trust placed in our team, our facilities and the way we work together with the owner’s team, the crew and our own specialists. Seeing After You and Emotional depart again, ready for their next journey, is something we can be proud of.”

The yard recently launched a 75.2-metre hybrid expedition yacht, known as Custom DY 75 Hybrid, which was first sighted out of her sheds in May.
