The first international conference dedicated to expedition yachting is set to take place next month.
Held at the Monaco Yacht Club on May 29, the Explorer Yachts Summit will unite owners, captains and industry professionals at a day-long symposium dissecting the challenges of travelling to remote destinations.
A number of speakers have already been confirmed, spanning expedition yacht captains, designers and builders.
These industry professionals, which include Jimmy Carroll, co-founder of yacht expedition specialist Pelorus, will give insight into the latest innovations, equipment and techniques in expedition yachting. Carroll will speak alongside the captain of Latitude, Sean Meagher, and Cloudbreak captain Jim Aladin.
Together they will draw on their experiences of travelling to some of the most unchartered destinations on the planet and discuss how they approach the logistics of such journeys.
Vripack co-creative directors Bart M Bouwhuis and Marnix J Hoekstra, meanwhile, will take a different tack, discussing the design and engineering of expedition yachts. Craig Barnett, sales and marketing manager of submersible specialist Triton, will speak on the logistics of underwater operations.
Other speakers include Dirk-Jan de Jong of Amphicruiser, Jonathan Turner of Mast Consultancy and BOAT International editor Stewart Campbell, who will give an overview of the explorer yacht market.
