Australian shipyard Dongara Marine has announced the completion of its 25.2 metre catamaran La Belle Cherie. The custom build hit the water in November 2022 after being commissioned for an owner in 2020.

The brief for the vessel centred around speed which is achieved through a lightweight aluminium and composite construction paired with waterjet propulsion to give her a top speed of 35 knots at maximum load.

Other key numbers include a 7.6-metre beam and a shallow 1.1-metre draft. A fuel tankage of 19,000 litres has been maximised to enable a range of approximately 800 nautical miles.

La Belle Cherie provides accommodation for up to 10 ten guests with provision for a crew of two. Two guest cabins can be found in each hull, alongside a full-beam owner's cabin.

The yacht's design comes from Australian design firm Southerly Designs and initial images suggest a neutral interior, with oak-toned wood, white finishes and integrated lighting systems. There are spa facilities on the upper deck and a swim platform between the hulls that provides easy access to the water.

Rohan Warr, managing director Dongara Marine, said the project had been particularly exciting for the shipyard. "We enjoyed working with the clients to provide them with a vessel that will be the source of great enjoyment and wonderful memories, as well as demonstrating how well our skills transfer to the custom motor yacht arena," he added.

Dongara Marine typically specialises in commercial vessels. La Belle Cherie marks the last vessel built at their Dongara facility, as operations move to a new shipbuilding facility in nearby Geraldton.
