New Pelican 80 concept from Olivier van Meer and Sea Independent

15 April 2013 • Written by Malcolm MacLean

Dutch designer Olivier van Meer is working together with broker Sea Independent to develop a new range of 24m sailing yachts called the Pelican 80 series.

A fast cruiser designed to be handled by two persons, special attention has been paid to performance, safety, luxury and high-quality build. The light and airy deck saloon is connected by only a few steps to the generous and well sheltered cockpit for comfortable outside living while the separate helmsman’s cockpit is provided with all the equipment needed for single handed sailing.

The Pelican 80 concept will be customised for each owner in every detail. Built in aluminium with a core cell/epoxy composite and equipped with a hydraulic lifting keel, she will have a twin rudder configuration and no-runners carbon rig.
