80m Oceanco yacht Project Y729 moves to outfitting

12 December 2025 • Written by Emily Dawkins

The 80-metre Oceanco superyacht Project Y729 has been moved to outfitting at the yard's facilities in Alblasserdam, the Netherlands. The new build will now undergo the final stages of fabrication ahead of her launch, sea trials and delivery in 2027 to first-time owners.

Y729 marks the first from the yard's Simply Custom platform, with Espen Øino International selected for the exterior design and Zuretti Design for the interiors, while Arrow Monaco will provide technical representation.

Constructed with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, the 80 metre will offer a 2,600GT interior volume with accommodation on board for up to 14 guests and a crew of up to 28.

“With Y729, we were able to utilise the readily available Simply Custom technical backbone to kickstart the project,” said Erwin de Looff, Oceanco's project director. “This, combined with the owners’ deep understanding of what it takes to keep a complex project moving, and to truly inspire and motivate a team, has seen the project progress at a very fast pace.”

The Simply Custom platform was first unveiled at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in 2023. It is designed to offer Oceanco clients a streamlined process of custom yacht building (for yachts from 80 metres and upwards or 2,500-2,700GT in volume), allowing them to hand-select the designers involved and build upon a proven technical platform provided by Lateral Naval Architects and the yard's in-house team.

Espen Øino's 80-metre Simply Custom design, Clarity, was unveiled as one of the first from the series in January 2024.

As another first, Y729 marks the first yacht for the owners, who, after many years of chartering, sought to create something "entirely their own" for family enjoyment.

“There’s great chemistry between ourselves, the designers, our representatives and the shipyard, so whenever we come together it naturally turns into a celebration,” commented the owners. “Everybody involved is giving their all to the project, and the whole team feels like an extended part of our family. Building this yacht together has been an incredibly joyful experience.”

While other details remain confidential, Oceanco revealed that Y729 will feature diesel electric propulsion, capable of reaching a top speed of 16 knots and cruising comfortably at 15 knots, and a 13.8-metre beam.

Noel Walsh, managing partner at Arrow, added: “Y729 embodies the true strength of the Simply Custom platform, the ability to accelerate a complex build while maintaining the highest levels of innovation, engineering excellence and bespoke detail. Reaching the outfitting phase is a major milestone, and we look forward to continuing this exceptional collaboration all the way through to delivery in 2027.”

According to BOATPro, Oceanco currently has two yachts in build, including the contract of a 130-metre superyacht, which was signed during this year's Monaco Yacht Show.
