Monegasque design firm, Pastrovich Studio, founded by architect and yacht designer Stefano Pastrovich, has unveiled a new 70- to 80-metre naval platform developed to redefine linearity in yacht design.
Known as X_Linea, the platform has been conceived by the studio in response to the prevailing aesthetic of contemporary superyachts - avoiding hard lines and rigid compositions for a single continuous curve that runs from bow to stern. The defining curve "reads almost as a straight line" and was inspired by a calm, flat sea, which, beneath it, carries long and elegant ripples. "The vessel and its environment share the same formal DNA," explained the studio.
X_Linea has been conceived for an owner "noticed for elegance and individuality" rather than extravagance. The concept has been curated to offer balance, quiet and presence, originating from the studies of Pastrovich in Seville, Spain, where he found that every space must preserve white, untouched walls to allow guests to "recognise themselves in".
The platform is also free from any large hull windows, which the designer believes to have become the "signature gesture of an entire generation of superyacht design" - a design choice made in confidence to instead offer a hull of formal clarity and precise tension. The designer's approach to long, tensioned curves can be seen in his previous projects, including the 118’ Wallypower.
Inside, X_Linea's interiors have been developed around four chromatic and material elements chosen for the feelings they evoke when together. Pink has been selected as the "colour of childhood dreams", in what the studio describes as a reminder that luxury is the "capacity to be amazed again". Gloss white, navy blue and blonde teak complete the yacht's defining colour palette.
“True luxury is not in the addition. It is in the certainty of what remains when everything superfluous is removed," explained Pastrovich.
Key specs of the 70-metre include an 11.2-metre beam, a 3.1-metre draught and a volume of 1,200GT. Meanwhile, the 80-metre features a 12.2-metre beam, a 3.5-metre draught and a volume of 1,700GT. Both yachts are expected to have a maximum speed of 18 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots.
The studio unveiled a new explorer concept designed for family exploration last year.
