Turquoise Yachts has begun construction on a 51 metre classic sailing yacht reminiscent of classic 1900s sailing yacht design named Rainbow II.
The schooner began construction in the Netherlands before Turquoise purchased the hull and redesigned it into a 51 metre schooner platform.
Rainbow II will now be built as a classic sailing yacht packed with contemporary features thanks to a redesign by Dykstra Naval Architects.
Currently under construction at Turquoise’s Istanbul yard, Rainbow II features a “classic appearance” thanks to “long overhangs” and an “elegant sheer line”.
Key exterior features include a main deckhouse saloon with far-reaching ocean views adjacent to a main cockpit with ample space for al fresco dining.
The main deckhouse saloon will be filled with natural light thanks to ample windows and will include a dining table for 12, pantry and lounge area. Described as the “focal point” of the boat, the saloon will also feature direct access to the large exterior cockpit.
Penned by deVosdeVries Design, the 230GT interior features total guest accommodation for 12. This includes a full 8.26 metre beam owner’s stateroom aft and a further four guest ensuite cabins including a VIP, two twins and a double. A sofa in the lower saloon can also be converted to sleep a further two guests.
The crew area is located forward of the mast and includes the galley, crew mess and four cabins for nine crew.
