The Italian Sea Group has announced the redelivery of the 48.6-metre sailing yacht Kaizen following an intensive maintenance period at the yard's NCA Refit Business Unit.
Works included the unstepping and restepping of her mast as part of a full rigging upgrade, replacing the original steel rigging with a carbon-fibre mast to improve performance and reduce overall weight. The mast and boom were also fully repainted and "restored to their original brilliance".
Delivered in 2000 by New Zealand shipyard Alloy Yachts, Kaizen cruised under the name Georgia for over two decades. Her first (and final) name change occurred in 2021, when she was sold to her current owner by Fraser Yachts, at a last known asking price of $7,950,000.
The creation of Kaizen brought designer Glade Johnson together with renowned naval architects Paolo Scanu and Butch Dalrymple Smith. Interiors are outfitted in classic cherry wood and provide accommodation for up to 12 guests across six cabins, including a full-beam master suite.
A definite highlight is the flybridge, which has direct access from the bridge and features port and starboard helm stations, seating aft, a spa pool and sunpads. The aft stairway also leads to an air conditioned (but al fresco) seating and dining area.
The news of this redelivery comes at a busy time for the Italian yard, with 17 superyacht projects on order or under construction, according to BOATPro.
One of the Group's major yacht brands, Admiral, recently celebrated the delivery of a custom, blue-hulled superyacht. At 78 metres, she shares the title of yard flagship with Platinum, delivered last year.
