In year where many of the biggest shipyards in the world launched new flagships, its no surprise that 2013 also saw some impressively large yacht deliveries. Though a few of the most notable deliveries of 2013 – and of the largest yachts – were superyachts that had their technical launch in 2012 and were only handed over to their owners this year.
1 Lürssen 180m Azzam
Topping the list is the current largest yacht in the world, Lürssen's 180m Azzam. The German superyacht builder announced that her delivery took place on October 22, 2013. Her new owners should enjoy the Christophe Leoni interior, which is inspired by early 19th Century French Empire design and boasts an open-plan main salon measuring 29m by 18m.
2 Feadship 99m Madame Gu
Feadship's new flagship, known as Project Dream during her four-year build, was launched and officially named Madame Gu. With a striking blue hull paint colour she will turn heads, but for now her highly bespoke interior by Andrew Winch Designs (also responsible for exterior) is being kept well under wraps.
3 Lürssen 88m Quattroelle
Though launched at Lürssen in August 2012, Quattroelle's owners took delivery of the superyacht this year, and Boat International got a first look on board in advance of her photo shoot in the Caribbean. Despite her 14m beam, her brief called to stay under 3,000GT, keeping her exterior styling, by Nuvolari-Lenard, sleek and balanced.
4 Oceanco 85.6m St Princess Olga
Known as Oceanco Y708 during build, St Princess Olga was launched in the summer of 2012 and delivered in February 2013. The sleek superyacht is designed by Igor Lobanov with naval architecture by Azure N.A. and Oceanco's in-house team.
5 Lürssen 85.1m Solandge
Another impressive Lürssen superyacht delivered this year is the 85.1m Solandge. She features an exterior by Espen Øino, an interior by Aileen Rodriguez, and is expected to accommodate 12 guests including a dedicated owner's deck.
6 Abeking & Rasmussen 82.3m Secret
In May 2013, Abeking & Rasmussen announced that it delivered its new superyacht Secret ahead of schedule.The 82.3 motor yacht has become the flagship of the German yard.
7 CRN 80m Chopi Chopi
Italian superyacht builder CRN delivered its new flagship Chopi Chopi in 2013. The yacht features impressive exterior living areas, including a private owner's terrace with spa pool and a swimming pool on the sun deck.
8 Trinity Yachts Cocoa Bean
Little is known about this highly private superyacht launched by US builder Trinity Yachts, but it's notable that this is largest yacht from an American builder delivered in 2013.
9 Nobiskrug 73m Odessa II
First spotted when she left her shed in 2012, Odessa II was delivered by Nobiskrug in 2013. Her interior is by H2 Yacht Design.
10 Dunya 72.5m Axioma
Dunya Yachts' 72.5m superyacht Red Square was renamed Axioma when she was delivered to her owners. The yacht is not short on interesting features, including a double height, atrium style main saloon and an infinity pool aft.
