The second edition of the Barcelona Golf Invitational presented by BOAT and Voly Group took place on 14-15 May 2025 at one of Spain’s most prized golf courses. BOAT reflects on the highlights from the event…
The tournament took place on the renowned Stadium Course at Camiral Golf & Wellness in Barcelona, a premier Spanish golf course celebrated as the second-best in the nation by Golf Digest. The event was made possible thanks to the support of its valued co-host, Voly Group; sponsors, Pinmar, South Wake Capital, Pendennis and Princess Yachts; and supporting partners, Crew À La Mode and the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry.
The Welcome Cocktail Reception
The festivities began with a Welcome Cocktail Reception on the evening before the Golf Cup. Held at Banyoles Garden on the resort’s clubhouse lawn with views overlooking the Stadium Course, guests met and dined with fellow players.
The Warm-Up Clinic
On the day of the tournament, guests were welcomed with branded polo shirts provided by Crew À La Mode.
After breakfast and a morning briefing, guests made their way to the driving range for a warm-up session. European Tour short game coach Tom Whitehouse and two-time European Tour winner Ewen Ferguson offered players expert guidance and valuable tips to refine their game before hitting the course.
The Golf Cup
The main event of the day saw golfers taking on the challenge of the 18-hole course in teams of four with golf balls sponsored by Pantaenius. Throughout the day, players competed not only for the coveted Golf Cup but also for various individual accolades, including Beat the Pro, The Longest Drive and Nearest the Pin. Midway through the course, players enjoyed lunch at the Halfway House.
This year's social programme welcomed non-golfers to the driving range for an introduction to the game with Tom Whitehouse, who gave guests an insight into golfing by coaching them in a small group before putting their new skills to the test with various challenges. Guests were then invited to participate in the buggy race. Teams raced against the clock, aiming to locate various points around the resort as quickly as possible, testing their navigation and driving skills.
The Prize-Giving and After-Party
The day concluded with a celebratory barbecue, where golfers and guests came together for the prize-giving ceremony to honour the tournament's top performers. Voly Crew Solutions emerged victorious, taking home the coveted Golf Cup, while Pendennis Shipyard claimed second place and Gallagher and TWW Yacht Management shared third place. Individual accolades included BOAT International’s Hamilton Kavanagh and South Wake Capital’s Jack Rapp winning Beat the Pro, Sam Tucker of Moravia Yachting taking Nearest the Pin, and his colleague Tim Carbury securing The Longest Drive. Lucy Smith of Y.CO was recognised as Most Improved Player in the social programme.
During the evening, a silent auction was held, with all proceeds being split between YOTS (Yachting Opportunities, Training & Skills), CHUF (Children’s Heart Unit Fund) and The Toy Appeal. Earlier in the day, Hole 11 served as the Beat the Pro charity challenge, where guests competed against Ewen Ferguson. Donations collected from this contest also supported the same charitable causes.
Following the awards, the festivities continued with a dinner and after-party. Guests danced the night away to the tunes of the band La Vie, provided by The Collective.
All guests took home gift bags, which included a Pinmar cap and photo stand, branded Pantaenius golf balls, branded BOAT and Voly tees, a Voly water bottle, protein shakes and electrolytes, a Crew À La Mode polo top, the latest edition of BOAT International and an informative booklet about Voly Group. Additional gifts included a polo top and belt for men and a polo top neck scarf for women provided by Crew A La Mode. Princess Yachts also showcased two models throughout the event.
