The New York City-based company was launched in 2014 by Jonathan Levine, an entrepreneur who, after looking into the products his teenage sons were using, saw an opportunity to improve the audio market. In creating an innovative line of high-quality products, Master & Dynamic has been able to grow rapidly, now with a presence in over 500 retailers across the globe, including some of the world’s top luxury outlets such as Selfridges, Bergdorf Goodman and Saks.

Master & Dynamic’s beautifully crafted audio products have caught the attention of many other players in the luxury retail sector, leading to a number of successful projects and collaborations. One of these noteworthy partnerships was with legendary British car company Aston Martin. The two premium brands have teamed up to form a long-term overarching partnership, in which they plan to co-create projects and technologies. The first of these was a virtual test drive and luxury VIP experience, Aston Martin on Ocean at the Pebble Beach Automotive Week, where customers wore Master & Dynamic headphones in order to immerse themselves fully in the driving experience.
Another of the brand’s exciting collaborations had them teaming up with The Rolling Stones on the band’s Exhibitionism exhibit at the Saatchi Gallery in London. The iconic musicians commissioned Master & Dynamic to create the first ever Rolling Stones headphones that could be purchased at the exhibition, which, after six months in London, went on to be hosted in 11 other cities across the globe, including Las Vegas and Tokyo.
The company’s partnerships have led to a number of innovative product launches, including Master & Dynamic’s first wireless speaker created in collaboration with renowned architect Sir David Adjaye OBE. The two joined forces to reinvent the home speaker, which was comprised – for the first time ever – entirely of a proprietary concrete composite. The result was a state-of-the-art speaker, which took an innovative new directional form in terms of its design, but also boasts a number of technical advantages over its competitors, including increased dampening and reduced resonance of acoustics, resulting in a purer sound. The product launched, rather fittingly, in New York City’s Museum of Modern Art Design Store.
In addition to this, earlier this year, Master & Dynamic stepped into the world of high fashion, creating an exclusive set of headphones and a custom turntable for luxury Italian men’s fashion house Ermenegildo Zegna’s couture collection. The resulting products were further proof of Master & Dynamic’s true ability to blend craftsmanship with the finest elements of technology.
Further stylish collaborations include a number of exclusive products created by Master & Dynamic for Leica Camera and for Bamford Watch Department. With such diverse partnerships in the high-end automotive, airline, fashion, art and timepiece spaces, Master & Dynamic is now looking to the next step, a forthcoming expansion into the world of luxury yachts. With a number of notable yacht designers already fans of the brand, it seems a logical, and no doubt fruitful, step forward.
