Kurkdjian, who is famed for his custom scents and olfactory installations including the Garden of Versailles and Grand Palais in Paris, attempts to capture the mood of the ocean and create the perfect home perfume to set sail with. Combining notes of leather, wood and ocean spray, Kurkdjian has utilised Indonesian cinnamon, Brazilian tonka and Spanish cistus finished with vetiver and patchouli, to create a heady yet homely scent evocative of all the luxury and freedom of a superyacht.
Before you rush to the internet to buy your bottle, however, the MCY 105 is an exclusive creation for Monte Carlo Yachts and will not be for general sale. The only way to get your hands on a bottle is to buy a MCY 105 yacht. With the first two hulls already sold, you'll need to get in line quick if you want to be the next lucky owner.
Launched in Venice this weekend (26 July) the MCY 105 is the largest superyacht from Monte Carlo Yachts to date. Designed by Nuvolari Lenard, it is the first in the line-up to exceed 30 metres but retains many features which have become Monte Carlo Yachts trademarks. The yacht has a distinctive appearance, with sleek desirable lines, and an interior which can be customised to a degree to accommodate each customer’s needs.
The MCY 105 fragrance, says Kurkdjian, is designed to enhance the excitement and possibility of buying a new superyacht, while dispelling the ‘new boat’ smell that may prevent new owners from feeling at home. If you’re tempted by the new launch (or new fragrance) the MCY 105 yacht will make its debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.
