Burger Boat Company superyachts are built in Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
History of Burger Boat Yachts
Henry Burger founded Burger Boat Company in 1863 on the shore of Lake Michigan. The shipyard drew its workers from among the European craftsmen who had immigrated to Wisconsin. During the Golden Age of American Yachting, Burger luxury yachts were built for millionaires and Burger’s steam-powered commercial vessels sailed the Great Lakes.
Innovative milestones for Burger include the 1938 launch of the 24.7-metre sailing yacht Tamaris, the first all-welded steel auxiliary ketch built in the U.S., and the 1956 launch of the 11m luxury yacht Virginia, America’s first all-welded aluminum vessel, constructed in collaboration with the Reynolds Metals Company.
