CIM sailing yacht Taronga now for sale with Campers and N&J
by Malcolm Maclean
The 29.07 metre sailing yacht Taronga has had a central agency change and is now jointly listed for sale by Hugo Van Schaik at Camper & Nicholsons International with Jim Poulsen at Northrop & Johnson.
Built in GRP by French yard CIM to a design by Sparkman & Stephens, Taronga was delivered in 1991 as a Maxi 88 model and extensively refitted in 2017, including a full interior upgrade and a repaint of the hull and superstructure. Accommodation in a well-appointed interior by Olivier Flahoult is for six guests in three cabins comprising a full beam master suite, a VIP suite and a double, all with entertainment centres and en suite shower facilities. Crew quarters allow for a staff of three people aboard this yacht for sale.
The saloon features a bar, a large dining table and comfortable seating area but it is on deck that Taronga really comes into her own, with an expansive 45 square metre covered cockpit providing a great al fresco entertainment area as well as shelter when required. Behind the centrally positioned helm station, a bank of seating faces forward and backing onto that, another U-shaped set of upholstered sofas faces aft towards the stern.
Under power, a 300hp Caterpillar diesel engine allows a maximum speed of 11 knots and a range of 1,600 nautical miles at nine knots.
Lying in Langkawi, Malaysia, Taronga is asking $1,090,000.
