The 29.1-metre sailing yacht Thila, delivered in 2009 by Australian shipyard Steve Ward & Co, has been newly listed for sale with Will Bishop of Superyacht Partners.
Commissioned for an "esteemed Olympic yachtsman", Thila began life down under, built in Perth to an exterior design from the renowned drawing boards of Dubois Naval Architects and outfitted with warm and welcoming interiors penned by British studio Rhoades Young Design. She was constructed in aluminium to Lloyd’s class and has undergone "professional operation and meticulous maintenance since her inception", according to her brokers.
Thila underwent an extensive refit program in 2022, with works including the installation of new generators, sails, and a comprehensive rig service. Other refit works were completed in winter 2024, following her sale to a new owner, which saw extensive optimisations and upgrades.
Noteworthy modifications over her lifespan include a fully moulded bowsprit extension installed in 2016, specifically designed to accommodate one of her two impressive gennaker sails, which were delivered in 2025.
Accommodation on board is for up to six guests in a three-cabin layout, comprising a full-beam owner's suite aft (complete with a seating area to port, a marble bathroom with a shower and a dressing table), a twin cabin to port and a double cabin to starboard, both also en suite. All three cabins are also fitted with a pipe cot, providing additional accommodation flexibility. Meanwhile, further quarters onboard accommodate up to four crew members.
Living areas are elegant and comfortable on board Thila. The raised main saloon, with its formal dining areas to port and relaxed seating to starboard, is bathed in natural light thanks to broad picture frame windows which simultaneously offer panoramic views out.
Steps lead down to a spacious secondary saloon, which presents a more relaxed retreat thanks to a TV lounge to port and additional, versatile seating to starboard. Large hull ports offer views of the maritime surroundings out in this space.
Outside, Dubois has penned a family-friendly exterior, with a line-free cockpit lounge – fitted with two U-shaped sofas around tables – perfect for dining and entertainment, shaded by a bimini and protected from the elements by a transparent screen forward.
To aft, the deck provides ample sun lounging space and a large swim platform, thanks to a fold-down transom. When at anchor, further lounging space is available between the winches. A 445 Williams Jet tender is also stored on the foredeck of the yacht for sale during cruising.
The auxiliary sailing yacht is powered by one 318hp diesel engine when not under sail, capable of reaching 12-knot maximum speeds, cruising speeds of 10.5 knots and a range of 2,300 nautical miles. Key specs include a 7.4-metre beam and a draught of 3.8 metres.
Thila is asking €4,850,000 with VAT paid. She is currently lying in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
