Third 26m Bering 88 yacht completes sea trials

28 July 2026 • Written by Emily Dawkins

Turkish shipyard Bering Yachts has announced that the third unit from its Bering 88 yacht series has completed the first round of sea trials.

The 26.2-metre yacht, which began construction in 2022 according to data from BOATPro, was originally conceived as the Bering 80 before developing into the yard's larger offering, featuring the same platform, architecture and capabilities. The shipyard noted that the main changes were made to the yacht's exterior, which underwent restyling, in addition to an updated equipment list.

“There are some questions like you had a Bering 80, now it’s Bering 88," explained Bering Yachts founder and CEO Alexei Mikhailov. "It’s actually the same concept, the same platform. If it’s a successful platform and a good boat, you can just update and perfect it, change the exterior styling to be in line with current trends. Every luxury car gets updated every couple of years. I think boats should do the same. We can have a model of 2025 or 2028, but the platform, the general architecture and layout remain the same, and of course the capability and functionality of the boat.”

The trials concentrated on open-sea performance, fuel consumption at various speeds and range potential, alongside testing the build's noise and vibration levels, handling and overall comfort underway. The full-displacement yacht delivered a comfortable cruising speed of eight knots in "less-than-perfect conditions" with 15-20 knot winds. Following the trials, the yacht is expected to deliver a potential range of around 5,000 nautical miles.

According to the shipyard, the outcome confirmed the B88 as a "serious long-range, practical and comfortable explorer in a compact package".

The design and naval architecture of the B88 is completed in-house

Constructed in steel, the B88 delivers more than 256 square metres of interior volume, with accommodation for up to 11 guests across five cabins and dedicated crew quarters for a team of five. Key specs include a 2.4-metre draught and an internal volume of 233GT.

Once delivered this summer, the third hull will join the first Beyond Capricorn and the second hull of the modified B88 on the water, the latter of which was launched in March.
