The biggest yachting news stories of September 2026

From the Cannes Yachting Festival (CYF) to the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) and everything in between, September 2026 brought an influx of news from companies across the sector. Inside the shows, the industry saw major model unveilings and construction updates, as flagships and new builds made their global debut – but we come to that later.

Garnering the most attention from BOAT's readers during the month was the news that Italian yard CRN, a brand of Ferretti Group, had delivered its 70-metre full-custom yacht Cerulean. The update came following her launch from the Group's Ancona shipyard in June, which revealed her classic elongated bow, a slender profile and "graceful, sailboat-inspired lines".

Major new build sales were also announced during the industry's busiest month, including the first from Benetti's B.Neos 40M series and a 125-metre-plus Lürssen superyacht designed by Espen Øino and RWD. Away from the milestones, news broke of the salvage of a 29.6-metre Amer after her sinking in August.

1. CRN delivers 70m full-custom superyacht Cerulean

Italian shipyard CRN announced the delivery of its highly anticipated full-custom superyacht, 70-metre Cerulean, previously known as Project Thunderball.

The 1,100GT, steel and aluminium build is the result of a collaboration between Dutch studio Vripack, responsible for the exterior design, preliminary naval architecture and general arrangement, and Italian firm Nauta, which developed the interiors and outdoor living areas.

2. First look inside Nautor Swan's 26m sailing yacht Elvi

Finnish shipyard Nautor Swan offered a first look inside its first Swan 80 sailing yacht, the 25.5-metre Elvi, as she made her world debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival.

An evolution of the shipyard's Swan 78 model and a new addition to its Maxi sailing yachts, Elvi is described as a "true maxi" and brought together the same design team that worked on the Swan 108, with naval architecture by Germán Frers, exterior styling by Lucio Micheletti and interiors by Misa Poggi.

3. Feadship unveils 115m superyacht concept Hive

Dutch shipyard Feadship took the opportunity of the Monaco Yacht Show to unveil its latest superyacht concept, known as Hive.

At 115 metres, the yacht stands as the yard's largest concept to date and has been developed to explore a new approach to life on board - dictated not by the conventional arrangement of spaces but by the owners and guests who use them. Core to the design is a vast open space which extends over four decks...

4. First hybrid Benetti B.Neos 40M superyacht sold with 2028 delivery date

Italian shipyard Benetti announced the sale of the first 40.6-metre unit from its new B.Neos 40M superyacht model, scheduled for delivery in spring 2028.

The sale comes less than a year after the series was first unveiled at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2025, showcased as a full-hybrid design inspired by "the proportions and silence of sailing yachts".

5. New 125m+ Lürssen superyacht sold with 2032 delivery

Brokerage firms Royal Yacht International, Italian Yacht Group and Kitson Yachts announced the sale of a new 125-metre-plus Lürssen superyacht, codenamed Project M.

Construction on the full-custom new build – designed by Espen Øino and RWD – is scheduled to begin at the German yard's facilities in Bremen. Delivery is slated for May 2032.

6. First look on board 36m Sirena 118 superyacht Ikigai

Turkish shipyard Sirena Yachts shared the interior images of the first unit from its Sirena 118 superyacht series, Ikigai, as she made her world debut in Cannes.

The model – penned by Sirena’s in-house design team with naval architecture by Germán Frers – stands as the largest in the yard’s composite line, built entirely in GRP with a sub-300GT volume and a flexible tri-deck layout. Dutch designer Cor D. Rover is behind Ikiagi's interiors, which evolved from a proposed neutral palette into a bright and personal design from the yacht's "deeply involved" owner.

7. Contract signed for first unit of "world’s largest maxi-RIB"

Italian boat builder Novamarine announced the sale of the first unit from its BS 260 maxi-RIB series to an Italian client.

According to the shipyard, the BS 260 "redefine[s] the boundaries of the category", combining the stability and safety of large RIBs with the comfort and livability associated with larger yachts. At 26 metres with a seven-metre beam, the new build will stand as the "world’s largest maxi-RIB" once delivered in 2028.

8. ISA Yachts launches flagship 80m superyacht Belita

ISA Yachts, a brand of Palumbo Superyachts, launched its new 79.8-metre flagship superyacht, Belita, from its facilities in Ancona, Italy.

The custom new build now becomes the yard's largest project to date in both length and volume – the latter of which stands at a mammoth 2,220GT – while also marking its first collaboration with Espen Øino, who is responsible for the exterior design.

9. 30m Amer motor yacht Angiola salvaged off the coast of Costa Smeralda, Sardinia

The 29.6-metre Amer motor yacht Angiola was salvaged off the coast of Costa Smeralda, Sardinia, following her sinking on 11 August between Isola dei Cappuccini and Capo Ferro.

According to local reports, three Italian teams carried out the recovery operation in early September, using a large pontoon, support vessels and specialised equipment, including the Hebo Lift II.

Rounding off September's biggest yacht news is Italian shipyard Azimut's interior unveiling of the first unit from its flagship Grande 44M superyacht series, Shabby, as she made her world debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival.

The 44-metre new build – penned by Alberto Mancini and Azimut|Benetti Group's R&D department, in partnership with P.L. Ausonio Naval Architecture – marks a major milestone for the builder as its largest yacht in both length and volume to date. Shabby's newly unveiled interiors are from the boards of Milan-based studio m2atelier.
