Carbon Marine to launch 65 knot Paragon Super Sport 28 tender
by Simon Hardie
Carbon Marine is due to launch the Paragon Super Sport 28 — the world's first 100% exposed carbon fibre hulled boat — at the Miami International Boat Show (11–15 February 2016).
The carbon fibre hull of the 8.5 metre tender is lighter, faster and stronger than a conventional fibreglass hull. Not only does this provide a higher top speed, but it also makes the Paragon Super Sport more fuel-efficient.
The highly efficient Seven Marine outboard engine offers a range of over 300 miles. More importantly, the supercharged V8 has 627 horsepower and will launch the tender to an amazing top speed of over 65 knots.
Carbon Marine has taken inspiration for the design from the high performance characteristics seen in the world of supercars. However, the sporty look and performance of the tender does not mean it is impractical.
It has a lightweight design, collapsible radar arch and davit crane lifting hooks, which all cater to easy storage on any yacht with a big enough tender garage. And for yachts with smaller garages, the tender has a reinforced towing eye for those longer trips between destinations.
With a draft of just 0.6 metres, the Paragon Super Sport will be capable of accessing many of the world's shallowest bays, including its owner’s favourite Caribbean beaches.
It is also designed with an oversized rub rail, so no worrying about damaging the tender or the yacht during loading and un-loading of guests.
Carbon Marine said it has “brought supercar performance to the water,” suggesting it will be a strong rival to some of the boats designed by car manufacturers. When launched, it will also be a worthy entry into the list of the fastest superyacht tenders.
Carbon Marine, which is based in Canada, builds custom tenders for superyachts and is offering test-drives during the Miami International Boat Show.
With a starting price of $294,000, the Paragon Super Sport 28 could be the perfect choice for any superyacht owner with a need for speed.
