Italian shipyard and brand of Ferretti Group, Custom Line, has unveiled further details on the newest addition to its rebranded planing line, the Saetta 128. The yard simultaneously announced that the first 39.8-metre unit from the series is already under construction, scheduled for launch and delivery in 2026. Two other units have also been sold.
The rebranded line was first presented at this year's Monaco Yacht Show, said by the yard to "extend the brand’s offering of planing yachts".
“Custom Line Saetta 128’ perfectly embodies our approach to growth, raising the level of every project and in this case extending a hugely successful range while maximising its strong points," said chief commercial officer at Ferretti Group, Giordano Pellacani. "We want to offer Custom Line owners ever higher standards of well-being, liveability and personalisation of the onboard experience."
Pellacani continued: "Custom Line Saetta 128’ combines innovation, construction quality and meticulously tailored detailing in a magnificent tri-deck that is unique in the world of high-end yachting."
Meaning "arrow" or "dart" in Italian, the Saetta name is a nod to the dynamic, pointed characteristics that define the planing line. This is continued in the latest model from the series, which features new exterior styling by Bologna-based studio SY Design, which was chosen for its "fresh perspective" and "interesting solutions", Pellacani told BOAT International. The Product Strategy Department, led by Piero Ferrari, and the Ferretti Group Engineering Department are responsible for the yacht's naval architecture.
Key features of the 39.8-metre model include a planing hull under 300GT and a beam of 7.7 metres, with the design penned to maximise onboard liveability through space distribution across three decks. A sloping stern characterises the vessel's overall look, in addition to "screen-printed glazing" and a central mast, which SY Design founder Matteo Sassone said is inspired by a shark fin. "Lighter" spoilers on her profile also provide consistency with the other sporty Saetta models while evolving the line's design.
Interiors by ACPV Architects, with strategic consultation from Custom Line Atelier, are offered in two distinct "moods". The Perfect mood features a "rich and sophisticated composition", defined by chocolate and mocha-coloured lacquer and walnut and maple parquet flooring paired with white marbles and ivory wallpapers.
The Classic mood is a play on this, although the design team describes it as a "more basic and balanced aesthetic". Woods such as oak and wallpapers with a more linear pattern define the mood. Despite similarities between the two offerings, Patricia Viel, architect and co-founder of ACPV Architects, explained to BOAT International that what sets them apart is "more about the feeling" with the "textures, feelings and sounds" being the variation.
Notably, all of the furniture on board is "floating" - raised off the floor to replicate the planing nature of the Saetta line. “The only element that we wanted to express [in the interiors] was the power of design, not only in terms of construction but in terms of the atmosphere that we wanted to create," Viel said.
Model highlights include the upper deck skylounge, defined by an inviting closed saloon and a 40-square-metre stern-to terrace, which can be customised to the owner's lifestyle, and the large bow lounge with sofa seating and a sunbathing area, which can also be equipped with a whirlpool tub.
Other deck spaces include a large sundeck designed for private al fresco relaxation and a sofa built into the transom. At the stern, a multipurpose area accommodates two water toys, such as a tender and a Jet Ski, and can be extended with a sizeable swim platform. Inside, the main saloon offers lounging and dining, with floor-to-ceiling windows filling the room with natural light while enhancing the feeling of space on board.
Accommodation is offered for up to 10 guests in four lower deck cabins, three VIP and one double, and a large avant-garde owner's suite on the main deck, with a central bed, dressing area and two bathrooms connected by an "extra-large" shower cubicle. Further quarters on board are for a crew of six, including the captain.
Power for the model is from twin MTU engines (2,638hp each), offering a 22-knot top speed, a cruising speed of 19 knots and a range of 1,000 nautical miles at an economic 11-knot cruising speed. The yard also noted that the yacht can be certified according to IMO Tier III regulations if an SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system is implemented. Trim interceptors and stabiliser fins provide additional onboard comfort.
According to BOATPro, Custom Line currently has 13 yachts on order or in build, the largest being the latest unit from the yard's 50-metre Navetta 50 series.
