The two hulls of the first WiderCat 92 catamaran have been spotted en route to Wider's Fano shipyard as the model starts to take shape ahead of its anticipated launch this summer.
The 28 metre catamaran is the first multihull offering from the Wider Yachts brand and has been designed in collaboration with Luca Dini. Hull number one is the first of five WiderCat 92 hulls currently sold less than a year after the model was presented.
The two hulls, which were constructed separately, have now both arrived Wider's Fano shipyard where construction will continue. Work on the deck and superstructure is already underway.
The WiderCat 92 will be built to RINA class and offers large interior volumes granted by a 12-metre beam. Accommodation is for eight guests across four cabins - with the option to increase to five guest cabins - and a crew of four.
Other features include a 67-square-metre beach club with fold-down bulwarks for a closer connection to the sea and a garage that stows a 4.5-metre tender and Jet Ski.
The WiderCat 92 will be powered by a hybrid propulsion system that works in tandem with solar panels to power both the propulsion system and hotel load. The yacht can run in full-electric mode, for totally silent and vibration-free cruising, while any unused power is sent to recharge the battery pack for consumption thanks to a Wider Power Management System. This hybrid system will allow for a top speed of 15 knots with a cruising range of 3,000 nautical miles at a speed of eight knots.
“We’re extremely proud of how the works on the WiderCat 92 are progressing", said Marcello Maggi, at the helm of W-Fin Sarl, the holding company that owns 100 per cent of Wider equity. “Thanks to the perseverance of the people at Wider, what was just an idea scribbled on a blank sheet of paper a few months ago is now a 92-foot catamaran under construction featuring a distinctive design and the best hybrid technology you can find today."
The first WiderCat 92 will be making its debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2023. Two other hulls will be delivered to the US thanks to Wider's partnership with Marine Max as its exclusive dealer in the United States.
