Icon Yachts signs contract for biggest ever new build

Icon yachts has a signed a new order to build an 80m superyacht, which will be the shipyard’s biggest construction project to date.

The new order is understood to have been made by an "experienced yachtsman" and has been designed by Tim Heywood. She is scheduled to complete in Summer 2017.

The new luxury yacht will feature a full owner’s deck that will have a large suite offering 280 degree views of the scenery on the forward upper deck. An iconic beach club has been designed which will have a large bathing platform directly connected to the guest accommodation. There will also be an eight meter pool with a glass bottom that will flood the tender back so that it can also function as an internal seawater pool. She will have a helicopter-pad on the foredeck, and a central stern garage will accommodate a large limousine tender.

The luxury yacht will be equipped with a state of the art diesel electric hybrid propulsion setup. She is expected to have a top speed of 17 knots as well as long-range efficiency.

Jen Wartena, CEO of ICON yachts, said the yard was “excited” about the build. “This project will be the largest yacht to date that ICON Yachts has built,” he added. “We are excited to have been rewarded with the construction of this project with such fantastic pedigree.”

Based on the North sea cost of Holland Icon Yachts already has two large projects inside its dry dock.
