Dutch shipyard Zeelander Yachts has announced the sale of a new unit from its flagship Zeelander 8 yacht model.
The 24-metre new build was sold to an American owner with plans to cruise the US East Coast, spending summers in Nantucket and winters in Palm Beach. Construction is already underway, with delivery scheduled for 2027.
“The East Coast of the United States has always been a natural home for Zeelander. From Palm Beach to Nantucket, our yachts have resonated with owners who look beyond size alone," said chairman of Zeelander Yachts, Sietse Koopmans. “They choose a yacht that reflects their personal taste: something crafted to the highest standard, sophisticated and distinctive."
Koopmans continued: "In that sense, a Zeelander is not only a way to experience the sea, but a way to express who you are on it. With the Zeelander 8 now heading to the region, every model we have built will be represented in the United States, a meaningful milestone for our family-owned yard.”
Constructed in "very limited numbers" at the family-owned shipyard, the Zeelander 8 stands as a fully bespoke offering, designed and built around the owners’ taste and lifestyle. Dutch designer Cor D. Rover is behind the model's slender profile, which is characterised by "sweeping curves, balanced proportions and a sculpted silhouette".
“We can customise anything you can touch, except for the shape of the vessel,” Koopmans added. “We offer unlimited choice of materials, possibility to customise layout – every Zeelander 8 made so far has had a completely different layout – and style furniture pieces, all in the iconic shape of Zeelander.”
The model can also extend from 24 metres to a 25.6-metre lifestyle platform with the beach club and swim platform opened. Designed for owners seeking flexibility and privacy, the yacht is equally suited to entertaining guests as it is for long-range cruising, delivered with a "level of comfort more commonly associated with far larger yachts", as noted by the yard.
The Zeelander has been dubbed "whisper-quiet" by her builders, recognised for its quiet cruising operations, which produce less than 65 decibels even at a full speed of 40 knots. The model can be equipped with up to four Volvo Penta IPS-1350 engines, delivering comfortable cruising speeds of 32 knots with a range of approximately 630 nautical miles. Though at seven knots, the range can extend to 2,700 nautical miles.
“It is a yacht built for owners who live at pace: get there fast, live well and return ready for more,” Koopmans concluded.
The sale comes after the second unit, Mojo, was delivered in March, joining the first hull, Silver Dawn, on the water.
