Oceanco opens up about 90m superyacht Project Shark

Built from a steel hull and aluminium superstructure to Lloyd’s standards, this four-deck displacement yacht features interiors by Nuvolari Lenard and exterior styling by Miami-based designer Luiz de Basto — a first for the yard. Due for completion before the end of the year, Project Shark will join the ranks of the world’s top 200 largest superyachts.
Accommodation on board Project Shark is for up to 12 guests split across six cabins including an upper deck owner’s suite complete with a private terrace that faces over the bow and includes a superyacht spa pool.
The key communal area is the main deck saloon, which will boast stunning views out to sea through 2.3 metre tall windows, while the bridge deck swimming pool will be flanked by sunpads and fed by a cascade of waterfalls starting on the upper deck.
It is understood that the uppermost deck will be used as a superyacht helipad, while other star features include a dive centre, hammam, sauna and submarine storage as part of a sprawling beach club.
Furthermore, two superyacht elevators have been installed on board — one for guests, surrounded by a spiral staircase, and a second that allows for discreet service from the 31-person crew quarters.
Speaking to Boat International, De Basto described his largest design to date as "a beauty", before adding that he can't wait to see the "monolithic glass" in person.
"We called it Project Shark because you get the hammerhead shape from the front and we made the mast look like a fin as well," he explained. "There are a few differences from the concept in accordance with the owner's wishes. We were able to adapt without too much trouble. The addition of the helipad was the main difference. We also isolated the aft deck for privacy, so the main deck is the only walkaround."
De Basto was full of praise for the Oceanco team, who respected his vision for every detail, from the deck furniture and the pools to the handrails and the mast design.
Power comes from a pair of 4,828hp MTU 20V4000 M73L engines and delivery is scheduled to take place this summer, following commissioning and extensive sea trials.
