Oceanco to launch limited collection of NFT superyachts

9 March 2022 • Written by Holly Overton

Dutch shipyard Oceanco has announced its move into the virtual space with the launch of a limited collection of NFT superyachts.

The shipyard is the first builder to launch a series of non-fungible tokens and used the opportunity of the Dubai International Boat Show to unveil its new brand, Superyacht NFTs.

The collection will be designed by Timur Bozca, former Young Designer of the Year award-winner, and will be based on the 105 metre explorer concept Esquel that was designed in partnership with Oceanco in 2019.

Each NFT will grant holders special access to ongoing benefits both virtually and in the physical world and owners will be given the opportunity to boost their non-fungible tokens through exclusive airdrops of collectable add-ons including toys and accessories.

"Entering the world of NFTs felt like a natural progression for Oceanco and we wanted to make sure we offered something unique and exciting, which is why we are putting fun and engagement at the heart of Superyacht NFTs," said Paris Baloumis, group marketing director at Oceanco. "We are making the exclusive more inclusive.“

Each design will feature a different combination of elements, themes, settings and some rare features, according to the yard. "It’s all about rarity, some should be rarer than others," said Baloumis. A percentage of the revenues will be donated to charity.

"At Oceanco, it is important to push the industry's boundaries and challenge ourselves to continuously grow," said Dr Mohammed Barwani, chairman of Oceanco.

Pre-registration is currently live for those interested in receiving access to Oceanco's first drop of NFTs.
