Royal Huisman has been commissioned to build a 65 metre performance ketch-rigged sailing superyacht known as Project 408 ahead of the 2021 Monaco Yacht Show.

The yacht, which is designed by Dykstra Naval Architects and Mark Whiteley Design, is now in the design and engineering phase ahead of beginning construction at the yard’s Vollenhove facility.

The yard released colourful sketches of the completed yacht under sail

The Dutch yard revealed the yacht will feature Alustar aluminium construction, a carbon sailing rig and an integrated sailing system by Rondal. The result will be an “enhanced winning potential on the superyacht regatta circuit,” the yard said. Few details have been revealed about the project but updates will be given as construction progresses.

Royal Huisman chief executive Jan Timmerman described Project 408 as “a truly beautiful and unique yacht”.

“Project 408 fits perfectly within our growing newbuild portfolio of exceptional sailing and motor yacht projects,” he added.

It comes after the yard revealed its in-build 46 metre superyacht Project 405 had begun outfitting following the turning of the hull.
