Italian shipyard Sanlorenzo has unveiled a new addition to its SL line of flybridge planing yachts. Currently comprised of five models between 26.6 and 36.9 metres, the yard has now presented a 24.3-metre model to the lineup.
Known as the SL80A, the model represents the "first icon" of the range, with a design that enhances proportion, balance, light and livability, while building upon the line's predecessors and its signature asymmetric architecture. Continuing a long-term collaboration with Sanlorenzo, Zuccon International Project is behind the model's exterior profile and interior layout.
According to the shipyard, nine units have already been sold. BOATPro notes that construction is already underway on the first three yachts from the series, with delivery of hull one scheduled for 2027.
The SL80A combines the trademark qualities of the SL line into a new fluid and contemporary design. Despite her shorter length, there has been "no compromise" in regard to atmosphere, proportion and comfort, the yard emphasised, with the model said to offer the openness and space typical of larger builds in a more compact platform. Her smaller size also makes her more than capable of exploring shallow bays and coastlines.
The line's asymmetric architecture has been developed on board its latest model to maximise interior volumes and enhance the yacht's indoor-outdoor relationship. As such, a lateral starboard passageway allows the interior portside volume to expand, which, according to the yard, increases the onboard liveability by up to 20 per cent.
Taut and clean architectural lines characterise the 24.3-metre's profile, with a strong continuity between the hull and superstructure described as "unmistakably Sanlorenzo", topped by one of the line's defining features, the flybridge.
Accommodation is across a four-cabin layout, including a full-beam owner's suite. Generous social areas have been designed around everyday life on board; the main deck is shaped by full-height glazing for a bright, open and welcoming environment, with a main saloon that feels broader and "more architectural" in character. A mezzanine-level navigation station ensures optimal visibility while allowing additional volume for living spaces below.
“With SL80A, our objective was to preserve the clarity and recognisability of the SL language within a more compact and versatile dimension,” explained Bernardo Zuccon of Zuccon International Project. “Every proportion, every connection between spaces and every architectural gesture was designed to create a sense of balance, openness and harmony on board. It is a yacht conceived around conviviality and life at sea, yet with a strong identity that makes it instantly recognisable as a true Sanlorenzo.”
A key feature inside the model is the staircase connecting the saloon to the flybridge, which is designed as a folded, micro-perforated metal structure, chosen for its interplay of light and geometry. The interior design is warm and contemporary, centred around soft Thai walnut wood, creating a natural dialogue with the yacht's exterior teak surfaces.
A geometric “Azteca” parquet decorated the wall panels and headboards to create depth, light and visual continuity. On deck, the stern cockpit opens out towards the water, while a generous bow lounge can transform from sunbathing area to convivial dining space.
Tommaso Vincenzi, CEO of Sanlorenzo, added: “SL80A represents the essence of our philosophy. It is not a simplified version of a larger yacht, but a synthesis of the experience we have built over decades with the SL line. Our objective was to concentrate the same quality of space, comfort and design into a yacht that allows owners to experience the sea in a more immediate and versatile way while remaining unmistakably Sanlorenzo."
He continued: "We believe SL80A has the potential to welcome a new generation of owners into our Maison, while keeping our design philosophy without compromising its identity, quality or architectural integrity.”
According to BOATPro, the shipyard has 70 yachts currently on order or under construction, including the second yacht from its flagship 74Steel line, named Virtuosity, which, once launched, will become the yard's largest build to date.
