Second 52m Bilgin 170 superyacht launched

The second unit in Bilgin Yachts' 52-metre Bilgin 170 series, NB83, has been launched in Antalya, Turkey. The yacht was sold in November 2023 to a first-time client and was last photographed on her arrival in Antalya for outfitting in June last year. According to BOATPro, delivery is scheduled for early 2026.

The semi-custom, steel and aluminium yacht is the result of a collaboration between Emrecan Özgün of Unique Yacht Design and Milanese interior designer Hot Lab. Based on Bilgin 163, the 52-metre model offers an identical layout with a more traditional bow design to improve exterior space.

The shipyard noted the similar exterior lines between the new build and its recently delivered Camila, yet highlighted the bespoke finishes and details of NB83, which have been shaped by the owner’s vision and executed with full creative freedom by the shipyard and designers.

“Our goal with the 170 series was to offer the exterior spaces typically found on 60-meter yachts within a sub-500 GT platform,” explained Özgün, founder of Unique Yacht Design. “NB83 is sleek, sexy, and modern. We focused on maximising the transition between luxury indoor and outdoor living, ensuring a design that remains contemporary and relevant even ten years from now.”

The yacht has been developed with an efficient displacement hull to deliver the attributes of the Bilgin 170 platform: optimised hydrodynamics, long-range capability and high levels of onboard comfort. NB83 follows the first from the series, the light brown-hulled Tamasha, which was launched in October.

According to the shipyard, the sundeck is "one of the largest in its size range" and has been designed with an eight-person Jacuzzi, a dining area and a bar. The bridge deck has also been extended by one and a half metres, while the bow offers an additional relaxation area once the rescue boat is deployed. An extended swim platform also offers more space at the water's edge.

“The Bilgin 170 series offers a captivating balance of style, functionality, and craftsmanship,” explained Enrico Lumini, design director of Hot Lab. “From her elegant exterior lines to the flow of her interior spaces, every detail is carefully considered to elevate the yachting experience. Today’s clients are far more design-conscious than they were twenty years ago. While beige and off-white tones remain popular, what defines modern luxury is the intelligent layering of materials and textures, creating interiors that feel inviting, elegant, and timeless.”

“Details that were once custom requests, such as the forward anchor observation pockets and the oversized gangway typically reserved for 80-meter yachts, have now become standard due to their success,” explained Alper Eroğlu, senior project manager at Light Ray Yachts, Bilgin Yachts’ solution partner. “We even integrated a dedicated garbage room in the bow – a feature virtually unseen in previous 50-meter yachts.”

The Bilgin 170 offers an interior volume of 499GT, with approximately 20 per cent more usable volume than yachts in the 48-meter range, according to the shipyard. Accommodation on board NB83 is for up to 12 guests, including a generous owner’s suite on the extended bridge deck, with the Hot Lab designs comprising soft colour palettes, layered materials and rich textures for a "warm and sophisticated" atmosphere throughout.

“Our motivation is simple,” Özgün added. “To create yachts that are enjoyable, beautiful, and refined – products that elevate our brand and, most importantly, make our clients happy. We want owners to use their yachts with pleasure and speak about them with pride.”

NB83 arrived at Antalya in June 2024
Powered by twin CAT IMO Tier 2 engines, the Bilgin 170 can reach a maximum speed of 16 knots, a cruising speed of 10 knots and a range of 5,000 nautical miles

Özgün concluded: “Our approach is always focused on becoming better. Because we develop our engineering platforms in-house, we benefit from highly efficient hull forms and extremely strong technical foundations. We come from a production background, which allows us to control every stage of the build. If a detail cannot be fully resolved in a digital environment, we solve it on the workshop floor and then transfer that knowledge back into the design and engineering process. Having design and engineering know-how [and] constantly communicating with production is essential.”

According to the shipyard, more than 90 per cent of the yacht’s construction is carried out in-house, highlighting its vertically integrated production model and five generations of shipbuilding heritage. NB83's launch also marks a significant milestone in the strategic importance and growing strength of the yard's Antalya facilities.

Exclusive data from BOATPro revealed that Bilgin Yachts currently has 15 units under construction. The fourth Bilgin 170 completed her technical launch earlier this year.
