Hodgdon Shipbuilding has announced the opening of its new operation in Damariscotta, Maine, Hodgdon Custom Tenders.

Hodgdon Yachts has significantly expanded is facility and workforce in East Boothbay, Maine, and elsewhere on the Maine peninsula. Recently, the custom yacht builder Hodgdon Yachts merged with Boothbay Region Boatyard.

The new facility in Damariscotta will focus on the building of Hodgdon's bespoke superyacht tenders. Hodgdon Custom Tenders builds custom and semi-custom superyacht tenders ranging in size from 8.5 to 12 metres, which are tenders to many of the largest and finest superyachts in the world.

The Hodgdon-built limo tender to Feadship superyacht Sea Owl recently earned a ShowBoats Design Award for tender design. Designed by Andrew Winch, the tender features the same level of finish and joinery as the Feadship she serves and emulates. The tender's half-glass roof slides away to create an indoor/outdoor atmosphere or the roof can lift vertically to provide an open air option, and she can reach a top speed of 40 knots.
