Missy, the 33 metre carbon fibre Vitters sailing yacht, has been delivered to her owner, who plans to use her to explore the Mediterranean in 2017 before embarking on a worldwide cruise.

Developed in collaboration with Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design, this new sloop has been two years in build, starting with hull construction at Vitters’ composite subsidiary Green Marine.

Speaking after his first cruise on board, designer Malcolm McKeon said: "Missy has exceeded all my expectations and is a delight to sail; she is perfectly balanced with plenty of stability to carry her generous sail plan."

Missy was designed for a client who had performance cruising in mind, and this brief resulted in her slim 7.5 metre beam, lifting keel and generous sail plan.

Louis Hamming, CEO of Vitters Shipyard, said: “Missy has a spacious, comfortable interior in which a lot of attention was devoted to the efficient use of available space on board. The compact engine room is fitted with a great amount of equipment and state of the art technology, while no compromise has been made on comfort or the use of advanced technologies.”

Interior styling is by Design Unlimited, with contemporary oak joinery finished in light grey and textured accents to add a feeling of warmth. The family-friendly layout includes an open-plan saloon and galley to encourage interaction between the nine guests that can be accommodated across four cabins. Two additional cabins allow for a total crew of four.

Key exterior design features on board Missy include the high proportion of glass in the saloon, with heat-reflective interlayers to keep the interiors cool in warmer climates. Lazarette storage allows for a 4.1 metre tender, a sailing dinghy and other water sports equipment. Meanwhile, the fully automated bimini and dodger system sit flush with the low-profile superstructure when retracted.

McKeon added: “It’s been a particularly exciting experience to design this superyacht for a new client, helping him transition from his knowledge of production boats to a fully-customised superyacht.”

Vitters explains that particular attention was paid to noise and vibration control, resulting in the fitment of lightweight composite panels, which improve both soundproofing and thermal insulation.

Missy is the latest in a prestigious line of yachts from the Dutch builder and once delivered will surely rank alongside some of the best Vitters sailing superyachts of all time.
