Voodoo Yachts launches first high-speed 23m "adventure yacht"

New Zealand yard Voodoo Yachts has launched the first unit in its XF75 expedition foiler series. The 22.8-metre yacht has already achieved a top speed of 50.9 knots during sea trials, completing "arguably the fastest ever passage" from New Zealand to Queensland at 1,170 nautical miles in 36 hours.

Once delivered, the yacht will make her global debut at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show ahead of her owners' extended voyage to the Kimberley, an isolated stretch of savannah and coastline in Western Australia.

The first unit has been designed in a striking shade of red

A hydrofoil design and "unique hull" results in 50 per cent greater efficiency than comparable yachts, according to the yard, allowing access to more remote destinations with fewer stops and lower operational costs. A useable area of 275 square metres houses a galley, dining space and saloon adjacent to the helm station, as well as four guest cabins and one crew cabin.

Outdoors, an open-air cockpit is attached to a convertible dip pool with seat covers, while the foredeck sunpad offers a quieter space for talking or sunbathing. The model also comes with a helipad capable of accommodating an Airbus H130 (complete with refuelling facility) and storage for a large tender, Jet Ski and watersports gear.

Other key specs include a cruising speed up to 40 knots, a draft of 0.9 metres and a 7.6-metre beam.

The news follows the reveal of another Voodoo Yachts model – an "exceptionally efficient" catamaran that can reach a top speed of 40 knots at 28.5 metres.
