15 August 2018

Italian builder CRN has posted a video taking a closer look inside the 74 metre custom superyacht Cloud 9. The clip looks back at the inception of the yacht, from the first design to the finished article. It features close-up shots of interior areas alongside aerial views of the decks, balconies and superyacht swimming pool.

It comes after the yacht was delivered to her Australian owner last year. Built from a steel hull and aluminium superstructure to Lloyd's Registry standards and MCA compliant, Cloud 9 features exterior styling by Zuccon International Project.

She is hull number 131 for the yard and the second largest yacht in its fleet, behind the 80 metre Chopi Chopi.

Speaking to Boat International at the launch ceremony last year, the owner said: "She’s beautiful. For me it is a very proud day, and for my family and my mother. It takes a lot of energy, passion and commitment to build something so magnificent.”

Giovanni Zuccon, founder of Zuccon International Project, agreed, describing Cloud 9 as "the most beautiful vessel I’ve ever designed".

The Ancona-based yard worked with Winch Design to create her palatial interiors which are believe to total in excess of 1,000 square metres for a total accommodation of 16 guests (12 when chartering) and 22 crewmembers.

The British studio was also appointed to create all of the external living spaces on board Cloud 9, including the private owner's deck and the superyacht beach club, complete with extendable bathing platform.

Cloud 9 has a maximum beam of 13.5 metres

Burgess Yachts was appointed as the owner's representative and Ed Beckett, Naval Architect with Burgess Technical Services added that the owner' set a high benchmark for quality "not only in terms of immediate appearance to her owners and guests, but also from the perspective of seakeeping and comfort, the arrangement of engineering systems, the quality of the paintwork and attention to detail throughout whether visible or invisible”.

Power comes from a pair of 2,682hp Caterpillar 3516C engines for a top speed of 16.5 knots and a maximum cruising range of 6,000 nautical miles at 12 knots thanks to a total fuel capacity of 250,000 litres.
