American shipyard Weaver Boatworks has announced that it has begun construction on a new 24.5-metre Weaver 80 sportfish yacht.
The new build, which is currently under construction in Maryland, will become the seventh unit from the series, which began in 2008 with the launch of Miss Pat. The sixth unit, the blue-hulled Mama Who, was delivered earlier this year.
The sportfish series is characterised by a planing modified deep V hull with a tumblehome transom, flared bow and hard chimes.
The yacht will be constructed of wood and epoxy, built to a design originally penned by the late Donald L. Blount, who also completed the naval architecture. Her interior designer is yet to be confirmed, though accommodation is expected to be for six guests in three cabins, with a complement of two crew.
Key specs include a 6.5-metre beam and a volume of 78GT, with power from twin 2,600hp MTU 16V2000M96 engines.
The yard's flagship build remains the 29.6-metre 18 Reeler, delivered in 2019 as a one-off custom project. According to BOATPro, the American yard has delivered nine yachts exceeding 24 metres.
Delivery of the seventh Weaver 80 is expected for 2028.
