Scandinavian yard Windy Boats has launched its largest ever chase boat model, the SLR/SR60, in Västervik, Sweden. The first hull will serve as a chase boat for 60m Royal Huisman superyacht Project 404.

The new flagship measures 18.18 metres and has been designed specifically as a superyacht chase boat. Defining features include a full-height windscreen, a flared bow and multiple chines on the hull to protect passengers underway and keep the boat as dry as possible.

The SLR/SR60 is the biggest chaseboat model to date launched by Windy Boats.

The chase boat can serve as a nimble sports boat for diving and fishing, as well as a support vessel for shoreside exploration. It boasts a top speed of 43 knots and is able to undertake long-distance excursions with a range of 850 nautical miles at 25 knots. The model has been designed to cruise in all conditions and is equipped with a gyro-stabiliser to enhance comfort when at anchor.

The first SLR/SR60 hull will serve as a tender to a 60m Royal Huisman superyacht.

Exterior details include a large swimming platform aft of a spacious al fresco guest area and drinks bar. Below deck, there are two cabins located forward and aft, as well as a galley and day head with a shower.

Knut Heiberg-Anderson, co-chairman of Windy Boats, said: “Windy’s philosophy has always been to design and build boats that set a new benchmark of style, and become market leaders in their own right. Working only with the world’s greatest designers and craftsmen, drawing on their passion and skill, Windy has been able to build a name and a product that is envied by many.”

The first hull of the SLR/SR60 has been designed in collaboration with Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design and Studio Liaigre for the owner of a 60m Royal Huisman superyacht currently under construction, known as Project 404. Adapted to the specific requirements of the owner, the first SLR/SR60 hull has been designed with detailing and finishes that mirror the features of the mothership.

“We are delighted to have partnered with Windy on this high-profile project. I have known Windy’s Executive Chairman Knut Heiberg-Andersen for many years, and this collaborative opportunity is very special to me. Windy is a strong international brand and Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design are proud to be associated with them,” said designer Malcolm McKeon.

The second SLR/SR60 hull is already under construction.

Following the launch and delivery of the first SLR/SR60, a second hull has already been sold and is under construction at the Windy Boats shipyard.
