The 87.6-metre Schichau-Unterweser explorer yacht, Arctic (formerly a World Superyacht Award Winner), has changed charter central agencies and is now listed with Ahoy Club.
Arctic began her early life as an ice-class salvage tug and was later converted into the world's largest explorer yacht of her time by Australian billionaire Kerry Packer in 1994. She had been a private yacht for over 30 years before entering the charter market, making her rich in history and leaving a strong sense of her legacy throughout the vessel.
Due to her original 1969 ice-class steel hull, Arctic has been able to circumnavigate the globe several times and has achieved a Guinness World Record in reaching the southernmost point ever navigated by a motor yacht – showcasing her ability to reach remote locations and letting her guests go where others can’t.
Having undergone countless refits, Arctic has managed to maintain, what her charter agency describes as “unmatched endurance with ultra-luxury”, which can be showcased throughout her array of seven suites with the capacity of accommodating 12 guests. Thanks to Arctic’s designers C. Kidston and A. Sassoon, the yacht’s interior showcases a mix of expansive living spaces and rugged expedition grit.
In terms of exterior spaces, Arctic features all the state-of-the-art charter amenities guests would expect – from a 4D private cinema to an adjustable depth pool and Jacuzzi. Each deck has endless possibilities – offering the chance to unwind in the massage and wellness suite, or entertain with the multifunctional helipad, which serves as a starlit dance floor and elaborate outdoor dining facility.
Powered by two Deutz diesel engines, reaching a top speed of 18 knots, with a cruising speed of 15 knots, Arctic boasts a maximum cruising range of 17000 nautical miles at 12 knots. Built for explorers and adventurers, the yacht for charter also boasts one of the largest fleet of tenders in the charter market and a substantial collection of toys, including jet skis, diving equipment, kayaks, SUPs, snorkelling gear, inflatables, ROVs or submersibles.
Arctic is distinguished from other explorer yachts in the charter market by her all-weather seaworthy ability.
Arctic is now available for charter with Ahoy Club.
