12 of the best superyacht honeymoon destinations

For the couple who enjoys outdoor activities

If lying on a beach for two weeks isn't your idea of a honeymoon to remember, an action-packed trip to Hawaii might be more your style. Head to Waipi'o Valley on the big island for a romantic horse riding tour and discover cascading waterfalls, lush green cliffs and the iconic black sand beach, where you can enjoy a lavish picnic – look out for hawksbill and green turtles sunbathing in the afternoons.

Thrillseekers can opt for a helicopter trip over Kīlauea Volcano. It's the most active in the world and you can watch lava cascade over the cliffside as steam emanates from the ocean waves below. This, followed by a breathtaking sunset, makes for an extremely memorable trip.

Though the big island is well-equipped to entertain daredevils and nature-lovers, excursions to the other islands are a must. Head to Kaua'i island and trek to the Opaeka'a Falls for a swim surrounded by mountains and rainforests, or arrange a trip to Lāna'i, to visit Pu'u Pehe, otherwise known as 'Sweetheart Rock'.

Unwind back on the big island with a trip to the Four Seasons spa for a couples massage or simply stroll to Hapuna Beach with a bottle of bubbly to watch the extraordinary sunset.

There are a number of anchorages around Hawaii and yachts such as 87.78 metre Musashi and 119 metre Motor Yacht A have visited in recent years.

For those in search of a hidden paradise

Hidden in the pristine waters of St Vincent and the Grenadines, the island of Bequia is like stepping back in time into old school Caribbean charm. Its shores are untouched by the mass developments seen on most other islands, goats, chickens and dogs still wander the streets and its beaches are among the most pristine in the Caribbean.

There are a host of activities to be enjoyed from diving trips (The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge dived here when they visited nearby Mustique) to picnics on Spring Top, which offers stunning views across the surrounding islands. In the island’s main village of Port Elizabeth there are host of quirky restaurants – including Tommy’s that serves delicious lobster pizza. Or you can venture to Jack’s Beach Bar at St Margret’s Beach for an afternoon of drinking cocktails in the sun.

If you are looking for romantic hideaway on this charming island, then head to Bequia Beach Hotel. The colonial styled property is packed with retro touches – including vintage suitcases and a hot air balloon basket as the reception desk – and has its own private stretch of perfectly white sand. It also offers a spa, for some post-wedding relaxation, and two restaurants.

For the ultimate escape, the hotel offers the use of its own superyacht – 34.5 metre Star of the Sea – to explore the surrounding islands. Plans are also underway to build a jetty that can accommodate private yachts up to 50 metres. Until then if you want to visit by superyacht you can moor out in Port Elizabeth and tender into the buzzing village.

Mamanuca Islands, Fiji

For the couple looking for natural beauty

The Mamanuca Group is a volcanic archipelago of 20 idyllic islands near Denarau, which are home to some of the most exclusive resorts perfect for couples on their honeymoon.
