Sea spa: A sense of Spanish flair at Talise Spa at Jumeirah Port Soller

30 January 2019 • Written by Caroline White

Where is it?

Located on the northwestern coast of the island, The Jumeirah Port Soller's Talise Spa in Mallorca offers unbeatable vistas of the Med from its airy cliffside setting. The bay of Port Soller provides yachting access to the spa, which is surrounded by the rugged peaks of the Serra de Tramuntana Mountains range.

Why the hype?

The hotel may be removed from the village below, but it is infused with local flavour: from the Mallorcan artwork scattered about the sprawling property, to the churro lady who visits breakfast tables with the crunchy sugar-dipped doughnuts (irresistible to children of all ages) and the scented gardens that surround the spa. It’s also ideal for families; knowing that your children are jollying it up at Jumeirah Port Soller’s Barbaroja´s Kids Club – packed with games, and overseen by bubbly Spanish staff – dissipates just as much stress as a massage at its spectacular Talise Spa (which you’ll be enjoying at the same time).

The Serra de Tramuntana Mountains provide a scenic backdrop to the Jumeirah hotel in Port Soller.

What to have?

Here, the centrepiece is a massive hydropool: hot, al fresco and overlooking the Tramuntana valley, but there’s also a salt steam bath to rejuvenate the immune system and plenty of other high-tech shvitzing spaces. The Talise Signature Massage heads up the vast spa menu. The therapists use almond oil with orange and combine techniques from around the world, including stretches and attention to pressure points, to knead taut muscles into submission.

Best by boat:

The local marina takes yachts of up to 35 metres, or leave bigger yachts at Port Adriano on the south of the island.
