The Ocean Awards was held at Mark's Club in London last night (January 13). Celebrating those who have made the greatest contribution to the health of the world's oceans, Boat International gave these unique awards to the 12 winners of The Ocean Awards.

Each award was made bespoke by a series of artists.

Selfridges won the Corporate and Social Responsibility award

Selfridges won the Corporate and Social Responsibility award at The Ocean Awards last night. Collected by MD Anne Pitcher (left), the award recognises the company that has done the most to address ocean conservation, whether through sustainability issues or addressing pollution threats, such as plastics.

Guy Stevens & Dr Andrea Marshall won the Science Award

Guy Stevens (left) and Joshua Axford collected the Science award - awarded to Guy Stevens and Dr Andrea Marshall for their research that led to the listing of reef mantas on the Convention of Migratory Species and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species.

Oliver Letwin won the Visionary Award

Oliver Letwin was present at The Ocean Awards to collect his Visionary award. The MP was recognised for his work to commit the British Government to the creation of a Marine Protection Area around Pitcairn, and to the creation of “Blue Belts” around the 14 UK Overseas Territories.

Emily Penn won the FitzRoy Award

Emily Penn (left) was present at The Ocean Awards to collect her FitzRoy award. She won this for her expeditions in 2014 and 2015 investigating the amount of plastic in the oceans.
