The best celebrity yachting moments of 2016

Pop star Mariah Carey joined her former fiancé James Packer on board his 87 metre explorer yacht Arctic P in Naples in July 2016. Before their split in October, the pair enjoyed a number of holidays on board the superyacht in the Mediterranean, often returning to the island of Capri where they celebrated their engagement in 2015.

Sofia Richie - daughter of music legend Lionel Richie - was spotted enjoying a summer vacation on board 85 metre Feadship superyacht Ecstasea in St Tropez in July 2016. Richie joined a bevy of models on board the yacht - including Joan Smalls, Constance Jablonski and Doutzen Kroes - as the group made the most of their time in the French Riviera to attend the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation Gala 2016.

British pop star Ellie Goulding was spotted vacationing on board Silver Fast in St Tropez in July 2016. The sleek 77 metre superyacht, which was delivered in 2015 and played host to last year's Monaco Yacht Show Owners' Club lunch, is currently for sale with Burgess - good news for Goulding who seemed very taken with the yacht's Jet Skis, paddleboards and gourmet food.

Goulding is a well known fan of a superyacht cruise having enjoyed numerous luxury yacht vacations in 2016 alone, including a cruise during the American leg of her world tour in Florida in April and a break on board 37 metre Oceanfast Never Say Never.

Reality TV star Kylie Jenner celebrated her 19th birthday in style with a cruise on board a luxury yacht in Turks & Caicos in August 2016. Jenner was joined by friends including Jordyn Woods (pictured) and models Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and Hailey Baldwin for the trip which saw the group anchor at one of the best beaches in the Caribbean for a secluded swim.

American pop star Nicole Scherzinger shared a series of snaps from her Mediterranean superyacht vacation in August 2016. Scherzinger joined Black Eyed Peas band members Will.I.Am, Apl.de.Ap and Taboo Nawasha to discover some of Croatia's hidden gems on board the luxury yacht and made good use of the vessel's outdoor spaces for sunbathing and yoga - one of the top sports you can do on your yacht.

American actress Lindsay Lohan was spotted enjoying a luxury yacht vacation in Sardinia in August 2016. Lohan chose the 48.2 metre CRN yacht Kanaloa - which is currently for sale - for the vacation and appeared very taken with the yacht, even posting numerous pictures of her sundeck and exterior. The star also made good use of the yacht's large toy box and was seen enjoying a fishing trip and leaping from the yacht's top deck into the sea below.

This was not Lohan's first yacht vacation of 2016. In May she became one of the many celebrities spotted on yachts at the Cannes Film Festival when she took a vacation on board 45 metre Fathom. She also provided a number of 2015's best celebrity yacht moments while enjoying superyacht vacations in St Tropez and Greece.

American model and socialite Olivia Palermo was spotted enjoying a luxury yacht vacation in Mykonos in August 2016. Palermo was joined by her husband, model Johannes Huebl, and photographer Carlos Souza as a guest of Giancarlo Giametti and Valentino Garavani on board their yacht T.M. Blue One.

The yacht is a permanent fixture around the Italian Riviera and Greek coastlines during the Mediterranean season and has played host to a number of celebrities, including Anne Hathaway and Bianca Brandolini, in recent years. However, she has also become known for the numerous pictures of pets on board that her fashion designer owners share of their adorable pugs and Chihuahuas.

Mother-and-daughter reality TV stars Kris Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian were spotted on an extended superyacht cruise in the Mediterranean in September 2016. The pair were joined by Jenner's boyfriend Corey Gamble (pictured), as well as Kardashian's three children Reign, Penelope and Mason, for the vacation on board 61.8 metre Sealyon which saw them take in a number of yachting hotspots including Portofino, Capri, St Tropez and Monaco.
