Turkish yard Turquoise Yachts has revealed a new colour scheme for the interiors of its 51 metre in-build sailing yacht Rainbow II.

The new interior renderings, from the boards of deVosdeVries Design, showcase a brighter colourway with the studio taking cues from Scandinavian design and employing light-coloured fabrics and leathers. The overall effect is “one of higher ceilings, more light and wider spaces on an already incredibly well laid out sailing yacht,” according to the yard.

Construction first started on Rainbow II by Dutch yard Holland Jachtbouw in 2014, after it was commissioned by the owner of  40 metre Rainbow and 46 metre Windrose of Amsterdam. When work ground to a halt in 2015, the unfinished vessel remained abandoned until 2019, when Turquoise Yachts' chief executive Mehmet Karabeyoğlu decided to see the project through to completion in Turkey.

Now under construction at Turquoise’s Istanbul facility, Rainbow II's design has been transformed from its initial schooner rig to a sloop set up in order to simplify the sailing plan and make the project more attractive to a potential buyer.

The main deck saloon is the centrepiece of the yacht's interior design

The original concept was inspired by a modern representation of a classic 1930s yacht but, courtesy of Karabeyoğlu's tweaks, has evolved into a "go anywhere, cruise around the world” sailing yacht.

Speaking to BOAT in 2020, Karabeyoğlu said: "The focus was kept firmly on safety, practicality, elegance and ease of sailing. This design will still be in fashion in 40 years’ time – it’s a timeless design.”

Standout features on board include a main deckhouse saloon adjacent to a main cockpit with ample space for outside dining. Numerous windows provide plenty of natural light to the interiors, which include a dining table large enough to seat 12 guests.

Accommodation is for 12 guests in a full beam owner’s cabin and four guest ensuite cabins, with crew quarters housing a team of nine in four cabins.

Delivery for the 1930s classic-inspired vessel is now slated for 2023, with the hull expected to be joined to the superstructure shortly. She is the third sailing yacht to be built by the Turkish yard, following the 33 metre Jazz Jr (now Eugenia VII) and 33 metre Simba.
