17 May 2024 • Written by Nick Jeffery

The 42.4-metre Abeking & Rasmussen motor yacht Sea Class, listed for sale with Kurt Bosshardt of Denison Yachting, is to be auctioned in partnership with Jack Mahoney of Boathouse Auctions. Online bidding starts mid-June and there is no reserve price.

Originally delivered in 1985, the all-aluminium German-built yacht was designed by renowned US naval architect Tom Fexas. She underwent a major rebuild at Delta Marine under the supervision of Bill Langan starting in 2008, the year on her registration document, completed in 2010.

Lying in Fort Lauderdale, USA, Sea Class is to be auctioned with no reserve.

Accommodating 11 guests in six cabins, Sea Class has quarters for a crew of six in three cabins. The owner's stateroom is positioned amidships on the lower deck with a king-sized bed and boasts a his-and-hers onyx bathroom with a centreline steam shower forward. Further aft is a queen-berthed stateroom with a desk area and shower room. There are four more guest cabins at this level.

On the main deck, the owner's office/library is found forward with "spectacular windows". The dining room is open-plan to the saloon which is finished in high-gloss pear wood. The saloon leads aft to another zone, that can be closed off by sliding etched glass doors, with a sit-up bar and lounge seating. The unusual arrangement allows for intimate gatherings or larger entertainment spaces according to needs.

Exterior deck spaces – all finished in teak – include al fresco dining on the aft deck which leads down to a swim platform. A spiral staircase leads up to the vast sun deck where a Jacuzzi sits aft. The long deck is an inviting space, with an array of seating and tables for guests to relax, protected by a fabric sun awning stretched over a stainless steel frame, and panoramic views. The internal wheelhouse is complemented by a helm station forward with commanding views.

Powered by twin 1,635hp MTU diesels, the pedigree 279GT yacht for sale cruises at 16 knots and has a top speed of 21 knots. Her range is stated as being from 3,000 nautical miles – or up to 5,000 miles at 10 knots.

Lying in Fort Lauderdale, USA, Sea Class has been asking $6,495,000. There is no reserve price at the online auction and the opening bids are expected to be in the range of $2,000,000 to $2,500,000.
