40m Alloy motor yacht So Nice sold

18 October 2023 • Written by Nick Jeffery

The 40-metre motor yacht So Nice has been sold. The yacht was a joint listing between Matt Emerson and Grant Henderson from Burgess and Jodi O’Brien of Fraser, with Matt Emerson introducing the buyer in the deal.

Constructed in aluminium in New Zealand by Alloy Yachts, So Nice was designed by Dubois Naval Architects, who also did the naval architecture, and delivered in 2009 as a Dubois 40 model. She has only been used privately since new and is Lloyd's classed, the Burgess broker pointing out that "she can easily be approved for commercial use for her new owners".

So Nice was asking $12,500,000.

Donald Starkey interiors sleep up to 12 guests in five staterooms, all with ensuite bathrooms. Each cabin is characterised by varnished teak, while the owner’s suite has direct access to a private office. There are quarters for a crew of six.

Her spacious main saloon boasts inviting sofas and two striking red armchairs, while a formal dining table for up to 10 guests and a fully-equipped galley are close to hand. Natural light floods in through large windows.

On deck, So Nice offers al fresco dining on her main deck aft at a table for up to 10 guests, with a mix of built-in seating and loose chairs.

Her flybridge, beautifully integrated into Dubois' sleek profile, hosts amenities such as a wet bar and a barbecue, with ample sunpads flanking the "oversized" Jacuzzi.

A portion of her upper deck is protected by a hardtop bimini, with skylights, while plentiful al fresco dining and socialising opportunities are on offer at this level.

Her transom offers a good boarding and swimming platform, and twin staircases leading up to the aft deck, where a substantial bar with bar stools beckons guests. Her jet tender is stowed in a side-opening garage where a dive compressor is also housed.

This 299GT yacht is powered by twin Caterpillar engines that provide a top speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 13 knots. Zero-speed stabilisers ensure guest comfort underway and at anchor. Her range is 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots.

So Nice was last asking $12,500,000.
