Charter yacht of the week: the spellbinding 30.8-metre Cantieri Delle Marche yacht Haze 2

This week, we take a closer look at Haze 2, the 30.8-metre Cantieri Delle Marche (CdM) superyacht delivered to a passionate, experienced owner toward the end of last year. Why charter Haze 2?

Haze 2 is based on CdM’s Darwin 102 line, a steel and-aluminium explorer platform offering a range of 3,900 nautical miles at 10 knots. Introduced shortly after the yard’s inception in 2010, the Darwin series helped establish the Italian yard’s reputation for robust, long-range explorer yachts. The yacht can travel the globe, which is one reason she is so well set up for charter. As the owners plan to spend long periods of time on board, the yacht has everything you could possibly need: a space to work, infrared heat lamps on deck, and quiet bedrooms.

The attention to detail on board is impressive; the exterior furniture is a warm terracotta colour and many surfaces are covered in perfectly sanded teak. The yacht’s terracotta accents are carried through to the upper-deck saloon which is wrapped in warm leathers.

Accommodation is arranged for up to 12 guests across five cabins. The owner’s suite occupies the forward section of the main deck and features hand-crafted wallpaper finished with real gilding.

Interior mood

Interior designer Lawson Robb spent more than 2,600 hours on the project, which included 21 different base interior finishes and product sources from 14 countries.

Decorative glass lighting features appear throughout Haze 2, most notably on the main saloon’s forward bulkhead, which features a wall of blown-glass fixtures inspired by wildflower meadows. Elsewhere, chamfered joinery, detailed ceilings and considered metalwork add texture and definition. 

Rooms are filled with items the owners have collected over the years, like a wooden box of Jenga by Linley placed on one of the tables and a glossed Cohiba cigar box in the main saloon. Rather than reserving the best detailing exclusively for the owner’s spaces, the brief was to maintain a consistent design language throughout and the level of detail and individuality on board this yacht for charter is more common on vessels 15 metres longer.

Out on deck

The exterior was fine-tuned to match the interior's elegance and aesthetic appeal. Inspired by Rolls-Royce liveries, the two-tone exterior scheme is punctuated by a burnt-orange bootstripe.

A generous, well-appointed sundeck features a hot tub, a sit-up bar, and ample space for sunbathing. The main exterior dining area is on the upper deck aft, with a long white marble table surrounded by tan leather dining chairs. Above it, there is more honey teak and infrared heaters. Additional seating is available on the main deck aft and forward of the bridge.
