The 59.7-metre Factoria Naval de Marin sailing yacht Germania Nova has been sold in-house at Dolphin Yachts - International Yacht Brokers. The transaction was closed following a recent €1,200,000 price reduction.
Built in steel by the Spanish yard to a design by Max Oertz, Germania Nova was delivered in 2011 as a replica of the 1908 classic Germania, using the same hull lines, deck and sail plans. The two yachts may look identical, but Germania Nova has a thoroughly modern heart beating in her traditional hull. Unlike the original, Germania Nova boasts an engine, state-of-the-art navigational equipment, a professional galley and air-conditioning.
Accommodation is for up to 10 guests in five cabins comprising a master suite and four doubles, all with en-suite bathrooms. The interior is bright and spacious with eggshell white painted deckheads, bulkheads and most cabinetry, richly accented with varnished mahogany surfaces, furniture and cabin soles.
On deck, Germania Nova's traditional appearance is deceivingly contemporary. Of her 21 bronze drum winches, 15 are hydraulically powered, while her cleats and boom fittings are finished in bead-blasted stainless steel. Meanwhile, the varnished deck houses and skylights are teak-veneered aluminium structures to save weight and ensure watertight integrity.
On the technical side, Germania Nova has eight sails made from Dacron and fashioned in the classic style with leather-reinforced corners to maintain the period look.
Each sail is raised and sheeted using hydraulic winches, while manual winches are used for lighter work such as running backstays. Under power, a single 402hp Deutz diesel engine gives her a cruising speed of 12 knots and a range of 2,000 nautical miles.
Germania Nova was last asking €3,750,000.
